It is a great pleasure to have the website of The Children’s Hospital & The Institute of Child Health, Lahore. This is a national level institution in Pakistan and is committed to attain the status of a centre of excellence in the South East Asian region. The Children’s Hospital & The Institute of Child Health, Lahore is a centrally located and integrated hospital complex, offering comprehensive services that covers all the crucial areas of child health. The Institute of Child Health is an allied facility aiming to develop human resource needs for the medical, nursing and paramedical support for the growing population in Punjab and the country.

Dean / Professor of Paediatrics

The project spreads over centrally located piece of land measuring 61.72 hectares (317 Kanals). Outpatient department was started in 1995 and indoor facilities were commissioned in 1998 as a make shift basis in the emergency block with a bed strength of 250. There are 38 different specialities related to medical, surgical and diagnostic fields. With the overwhelming number of patients and ever increasing work load, an endeavour has been made in increasing the bed strength unofficially to 418 by utilizing all the physical space available in emergency and diagnostic block of the hospital. The work on indoor and operation theatre block has been started and is in full swing. After its completion the total bed strength would be increased to 684.

A dedicated team of highly trained pediatric specialists and paramedical staff are engaged in child care. This is where the concept of integrated facilities plays its most crucial role. While the sick child gets immediate medical attention, comprehensive preventive and community outreach programs serve to improve the infant mortality and under 5 year mortality in Pakistan.

I take this opportunity to express my appreciation and felicitations to the faculty members and hospital management for their commendable services rendered for the institution. I hope that with the continued teamwork this institution would emerge as a symbol of service to humanity and as a centre of excellence.
